Partial trip of zone 4

Writer's picture: Liz BeaulieuLiz Beaulieu

This afternoon the sun came out and the wind seemed to die down so I decided to attempt my first solo patrol of Zone 4. I started with the upper left corner of zone 4 and went into the bottom right part of zone 2 by Scribner Point. It has only been 2 weeks since Maria brought me out to show me the ropes, but I thought it would be a good day to give it a go! As I was pulling out on my paddle board from the beach area I noticed a small turtle that had washed up and was no longer alive. In my cove area I saw a bloom of something which is pictured. After looking through the guides and attempting to identify it I thought it would be better to contact my mentor, Marie Gross to help me identify this.  I’ll let you know what she says and I’ll keep on looking through the guide book!

The rest of my trip along the shore of zone 4 did not show me anything new from my previous trip out with Maria. I will finish up the rest of zone 4 in the next week or so when the winds cooperate.  Liz Beaulieu
