Great weather mid-week to patrol

Writer's picture: Jim ProulxJim Proulx

Vickie taxied my stand-up paddleboard down to Ship Island where I started a northerly patrol up to Fisher Point. I still found the cove just north of Ship Island to harbor much more of the thick growth specifically on the north end of this cove first noted by Maria last month. It's still a nice cove with a pic attached.

The still water and bright mid-day sun resulted in my best view of the littoral depths that I've seen and nothing down there except deep boulders I've not seen before, the occasional small sprouts of grasses, and 3 old beer cans all wedged between deep rocks.

Duck Cove on the other hand was so murky that the bottom wasn't visible even in this sunlight. Only the occasional native milfoil but nothing else unusual to report on this patrol which concluded at Fisher Point.
