Zone 8 - first sweep!

Writer: Steven KafkaSteven Kafka

I took advantage of a lull in the very breezy weekend Saturday afternoon to hop on the paddleboard and do my first sweep of Zone 8, Lower East Short & Rocky Reef. (I covered all zones EXCEPT for 1300, 1339-1340 out on the rocks!)

This is a generally a rocky shoreline and frankly not a lot of plant growth in the water. I did not have my patrol kit with me - had not expected to be able to go out - but did see several lovely stands of white water lily, tape-reed, and floating heart. Will post some photos next time.

Steve, nice to see you have Mobi to help you find the milfoil! Great you got out and patrolled, your area is not plant rich, but it is susceptible to errant hitch-hikers and it will show off lots of natives as August heats up the water column.

Thanks.

Welcome Steve! It is great to hear a "voice" from zone 8. Thank you.

If you could add the grids you were able to cover during your patrol then it will be a way for you (or me or us together) to know what shoreline was missed and could be covered at a later date. Thanks again!
