Zone 7 Looking Pretty

July 24th was finally a sunny day with calm winds(!) Throughout the zone I found the water was a combination of easy viewing to the lake’s floor and very fine dust or debris on the surface with a good many floating strands of young bladderwort, thin leafed Pondweed, Elodea, and/or native Water naiad.
The Maidens of the Mist and Gull Rock had barely any plant growth that was visible but there were the familiar bright green Fresh Water Sponges of previous years, stuck to many of the rocks' surfaces. Dean’s Cove did not present any unusual findings other than the familiarly large expanse of young bladderwort that covers the lake’s floor in grid 196. Just north of my home (grids 204 + 205) the expanse of Aquatic moss seems as it was last year. I also noticed unusually large groupings of pipewort by the mouth of Wiley Cove (grids 203+204), around both sides of the mouth to Dean’s Cove and around Marble Island. Wiley Cove had a small group of native Milfoil that was present previous years. Common Water-Primrose was found inside Wiley Cove.
