I chose a great day for my first patrol of the season. The temperature and humidity were reasonable and the lake was calm. The areas in zone 4 had all the usual plants including blooming Pickerelweed, Floating Pondweed, Ribbon Leaf Pondweed, white and pink water lilies and Spike Rush.  I also gathered some floating bladderwort and native waterweed. In many shallow areas on the bottom I found lots of green algae, not sure if the lake is warmer than last year on this same date but it seems like more than I remembered last year. I even passed by some large brown bubbles around the pondweed. In addition I passed by a popular “lunch”  spot~lots of empty mussel shells left after a feast!
