Cindy Hall lives in Eaton and along with Paul Nuccio they will be helping to patrol So Cove, especially zones 9,10 and 11.
To patrol easily during this time of year it does call for skies with full sun to allow any of us to see easily to the lake’s floor. That said, we persevered, and Cindy was able to learn about the area’s native plants multiple times as we moved from patch to patch and then began to “see” them herself more quickly. We tried the patrol tools, almost lost some in the water, but by the end of the patrol the energy was great! We were able to find the small area of Native milfoil near the Smith’s dock (grid#281) in Smith’s cove and then were surprised to find one solitary Floating Bladderwort sitting so prettily in the middle of Greely cove (grid# 269.) We flushed out a Wood duck that Cindy quickly identified, and shortly after she spied a tiny green plant about the size of a Quillwort but with very different shape on the lake floor (just north of the Boynton’s dock - grid # 240.) I will ask Amy to identify this one and will add it to the blog in another post.
