Waterweed and Native Milfoil in Paige Brook

Tim Keith

Patrolled the western half of Paige Brook (grids 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33, 34, 38) on Saturday, August 12th. It was an interesting morning, with a nice diversity of plant growth. Both Native Water Naiad and Water Marigold were more prevalent and easier to see. I also found some Waterweed (grid 33/38) which I have not previously seen in Paige Brook as well as Native Milfoil (grid 21/22) which I have not seen recently. Once again I used Don's trusty "Look Alikes" guide to make sure the Waterweed was not Brazilian Elodea or Hydrilla and ensure the Milfoil was native. See photos below including cross sections to check on the number of leaves.
