I paddled all of the north shore (Zone 2) and both sides of the Channel from Scribner Point to the town beach (Zone 3) today. I saw a lot of naiad and bladderwort(mostly purple bladderwort but also common bladderwort). It was very useful to have seen the samples of invasive spiny naiad that Cliff brought to the bbq. I collected quite a few samples of naiad in the Channel and all were native (they lacked the serated edges typical of the invasive spiny naiad).

Long haul! Nicely done. Seeing and touching Cliff’s “live”specimens have renewed my confidence as well. That happened for me yesterday with Curly-leaf pondweed. I’ll post that today.
Great that you checked the nailad for the brillo like texture Don. We had quite a bit of naiad in Paige Brook yesterday some of which may have blown in from the channel with the westerly breeze. None of the patches we were able to feel were spiny, fortunately.
