Native Milfoil in Paige Brook

Had an enjoyable patrol of Paige Brook yesterday morning, July 24th. There was not much change in the diversity or abundance of aquatic vegetation from my last patrol with the exception that there was considerably more Native Milfoil as well as Naiad. In fact, the milfoil seemed much more abundant, especially in zones 28 and 29, than I remember from previous years. I checked the leaves of multiple Naiad cuttings from several areas using a magnifying glass and saw no obvious spines so all seems AOK.

A highlight of the morning was having a small beaver surface quite close to the kayak. In past years we've had quite a few beavers in Paige Brook but this was the first one I've seen this year.
