I headed down from where I had stopped 2 days ago, on 9/18, and patrolled down the west side of each of the above zones to grids 300 and 301. It was noon when I started this patrol and the angle of the sun’s rays at this time of the year did not make it easy to see the lake’s floor nor did the gentle northerly wind but there were many small coves that were easy to kayak through. Throughout this entire patrol there was nothing unusual to report other than the variety of grasses, bladderworts, some Water Marigolds and Native Elodea all of which are dying back and/or weighed down with thick algae.
It was 2:45 where I finished this patrol and both Greely and Smith Coves faced me, very sunny and still, beckoning me to keep going—for another day.
