July 11, 2025 - Did my first AIS patrol of the summer in Paige Brook this morning.

There was nothing suspicious although there was a lot to see including the beautiful yellow flowers of floating bladderwort (below).

Other plants were also blooming including Common Bladderwort (yellow flowers) and Floating Heart (white flowers) and of course both Spadderdock and White Water-lily. In addition, there was an abundance of Purple Bladderwort, various Pondweeds, Watershield, Floating Bur-weed, Sterile-threadlike Grass, Pipewort, and Pickerelweed. I also found some Water-Marigold and Waterweed (see photos below). I checked the Waterweed to make sure it had only 3 petals per whorl and that the leaf margins were smooth to make sure it was not the invasive form. The Water Naiad was just starting to grow and, on the cuttings I checked, I did not see strong serrations on the leaf edges.

All in all, an interesting morning!

Great photos Tim!
I did not remember the bladderwort had such fantastic flower structures. Nature at its best.
Nice to know the loosestrife regrew. Tenancious. Too bad they are so pretty. But weed we must and weed we will.
