Another host for Fresh Water Sponge

This was a find that I had not expected. Fresh Water Sponge is easily found in our lake on rocks of every size and shape but this time I found it on the ends of some tree branches submerged by the shoreline in Pennacook Cove. At first glance I was expecting to feel it’s texture to be slimy, but it was definitely anything but that. It is knobby and firmly adhered to its host.
